- Engaging within a collaborative clinical environment in alignment with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Working closely with the healthcare team in direct care tasks such as assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions for patients in the Emergency Department.
- Involved in discharge planning, acting as a patient advocate, and educating patients and their families on health issues, injury prevention, and wellness.
- Delivering care to patients of all ages under a team-oriented model and fostering therapeutic relationships grounded in respect.
- Identifying and addressing unexpected patient outcomes by collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
- Documenting care provided and incidents in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
The Northern Health Regional Emergency Department Education Program (REDEP) offers a structured online curriculum designed for novice emergency nursing care. This program integrates online education with practical training to ensure safe and proficient patient care.
- Introduction to fundamental emergency nursing topics, concepts, and practice guidelines.
- Development of specialized skills, knowledge, attitudes, and judgment essential for emergency patient care.
- Encouragement of professionalism within the field of emergency nursing.
- Availability of training positions with financial support for educational expenses.
- Requirements for successful completion, including prerequisite courses, online and in-person learning, and a commitment to the program.
- Flexibility for practical experiences, preferred background in acute care, and mandatory Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Completion of an electrocardiogram (ECG) course prior to program initiation is preferred.
- A return of service requirement following program completion.
Day shifts from 08:00 to 16:00 at a prominent health center offering a variety of services including Acute Care, Long-term care, Laboratory and Imaging services, Community Counseling, Minor Surgery, Physiotherapy, and more.
