The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $96,579 - $141,649. This range serves as a general guideline and may vary based on individual skills, experience, and qualifications, along with market conditions.

The primary objective of this role is to offer specialized knowledge and applied engineering in power systems. The selected candidate will act as a subject matter expert, providing consultation in areas such as power systems studies, power quality assessments, substation design, and training.

Eaton's Electrical Services & Systems team provides a comprehensive array of services designed for every phase of a power system's lifecycle—whether it involves design, construction, or ongoing support. Our services are aimed at optimizing and integrating the components of a power system to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, enhancing safety, efficiency, and reliability.

With the largest and most experienced team of power system engineers in the industry, Eaton is equipped with industry-standard software and advanced modeling capabilities. This team possesses extensive skills in power system analysis and design, actively participating in technical societies such as IEEE and collaborating with various utilities and industries to stay abreast of the latest engineering techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver applied engineering and technical consultation in power systems studies, power quality assessments, substation design, and training.
  • Manage assigned projects independently, ensuring accountability for job costs and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Interpret specifications and customer inquiries to develop technical proposals and pricing.
  • Provide innovative technical solutions that may involve equipment design, upgrades, and enhancements related to safety, reliability, or efficiency.
  • Conduct major studies and projects autonomously.
  • Mentor junior engineers as necessary.
Qualifications:
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • P.Eng. License.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the electrical industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience in power systems.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree focused on electrical power systems or a PhD.
  • IEEE Senior Membership.
  • Active participation in Local IEEE.
  • Authorship of technical papers.
  • Involvement in Standards Development.
  • Experience with protective relays is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with power system modeling software such as SKM, ETAP, EazyPower, CYME, etc.
  • Advanced experience in multi-function protection relay settings and logic files.
  • Experience in the following areas:
  • Short-Circuit Analysis, LV/MV Coordination.
  • Arc Flash studies and mitigations.
  • Ground grid design for substations.
  • Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience in power quality measurements, troubleshooting, and analysis is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards including CSA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
  • Design of Distribution Systems, Substations, and Protection & Control.
