About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Manager to join our team at A. O. Smith Corporation. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and collaborating on assigned product lines from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Vision and Strategy: Identify and articulate the company's distinctive competence and the product line's unique advantages to the sales force.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Perform qualitative and quantitative research with existing and prospective customers, assimilate customer and market requirements, and develop business cases for new products.
  • Product Launch and Management: Plan and implement product launches, manage the marketing mix post-launch, and perform product life cycle management to maximize product line profitability.
  • Market and Technological Development: Monitor market and technological developments and incorporate information into the overall corporate product program strategy.
  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Conduct research and provide in-depth market, industry, and competitive analysis and positioning.
  • Product Requirements and Planning: Create detailed business, marketing, and product requirements, and create and maintain the product plan for all channels served by the product line.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Identify and document competitive threats, industry innovations, and other industry-related news.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
  • Pricing Strategy and Cost Reduction: Develop and drive pricing strategy, cost reduction programs, and market segment analysis for product lines.
  • Product Positioning and Communication: Work with Sales and Marketing to ensure the product is correctly positioned and communicated to the market.
  • Technical and Commercial Support: Provide technical and commercial support to Sales management.
  • Sales Tools and Training: Work closely with the Sales team to develop sales tools and training programs.
  • Product Presentations and Content: Create and maintain product presentations, give presentations to both internal and external parties on current and future product developments, and publish regular product update documents, white papers, and technical communiqués.
  • Trade Shows and Events: Support trade shows and other company-sponsored events.
  • Technical Support and Escalation: Act as the point of contact for Sales and Customer Service for technical questions that cannot be answered with existing materials.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Business, Engineering, or a technical field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of related work experience and 6+ years of Supervisory/Leadership experience.
