Job Overview:
  • Exhibit a professional, visible, and alert security presence
  • Welcome, assist, and guide visitors to the premises
  • Ensure the safety & security of clients, facilities, and assets
  • Collaborate effectively, both independently and as part of a team
  • Execute all security responsibilities as outlined (including, but not limited to):
    • Proactive/reactive interior & exterior patrols
    • Response & assistance in emergency situations
    • Documenting & reporting of any/all security events during shifts
    • Investigate routine incidents
    • Patient monitoring
    • Parking & smoking regulation enforcement
    • Awareness & enforcement of facility policies
    • Access control/key management
    • Conduct monthly safety inspections
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned
Essential Qualifications:
  • Valid Security Guard License
  • Current First Aid & CPR - Level C Certification (from an approved provider)
  • Ability to maintain a clean-shaven appearance for N95 Mask Fit Test
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination (minimum double vaccination)
  • Immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella [MMR], Varicella, and TB Skin Tests - Step 1 & 2)
    • How To
    • Immunization Record Form
  • Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (during onboarding)
  • Comfortable with technology and proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Excellent English (oral and written) communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • 6+ months experience in customer service
  • Prior experience in healthcare security
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally in customer-facing roles
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions accurately, work under pressure, and manage frequent interruptions
  • Must be able to complete and maintain certification in all mandatory training as assigned by the organization or the client
  • Must be able to commit to the position/schedule for a minimum of 6 months without changes to availability
Desirable Knowledge/Skills:
  • Understanding of the Criminal Code
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Practical knowledge of the Private Security & Investigative Services Act and regulations
  • General knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code and its application in a healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with security principles, concepts, and methodologies in a healthcare setting
  • IAHSS - Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) - Basic certification
  • Post-secondary education - Police Foundations or Law & Security Program, or equivalent experience
