Job Summary:

Welcome Center Clerk is a key role in our logistics operations, responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of goods and information through our warehouse and yard. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect inbound and outbound trailers and containers to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with regulations.
  • Document persons entering and leaving the yard, as well as control on Bills of Landing (BOL's) and trailer/container inspection sheets.
  • Interact with drivers courteously, respectfully, and professionally, ensuring timely and efficient processing of shipments.
  • Check trailers and containers in and out using our Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Liaise with clerical and workflow staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Answer phone calls from internal and external customers, providing accurate and timely information.
  • Maintain access control and driver logs, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Perform yard audits to reconcile current yard status versus data in WMS.
  • Prioritize a high volume of emails at the start of shift and throughout the day, ensuring timely and effective response.
  • Enforce safety policies, including PPE, pedestrian traffic, speed limits, and other site policies.
  • Report safety and security issues promptly, ensuring a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and 1-2 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service driven.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must possess visual acuity, including close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
