About the Opportunity
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Ancient Philosophy. This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025, or shortly thereafter.
Key Responsibilities
- Pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
- Teach and supervise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on Ancient Philosophy.
- Contribute to the development of the Department's curriculum and programs, and participate in departmental and university service.
Requirements
- PhD degree in Philosophy or a closely related field by the time of the appointment, or shortly thereafter.
- Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, with a strong publication record and a teaching dossier that includes a statement of teaching philosophy, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations.
- Strong endorsements from referees of high standing, with evidence of research excellence and teaching effectiveness.
