About the Opportunity

The University of Toronto's Department of Philosophy invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Ancient Philosophy. This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025, or shortly thereafter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Ancient Philosophy and contribute to the development of the department's curriculum.
  • Supervise graduate students and provide mentorship to junior faculty members.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Philosophy or a closely related field by the time of the appointment, or shortly thereafter.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
  • Strong research and teaching interests that complement and enhance the existing faculty expertise.
