The Emerging Leader Program

Within this 15-month program, you will have the opportunity to learn and be mentored by multiple leaders across our business, including operations, sales, finance, human resources, and procurement. By the completion of this program, you will be in a position to become an emerging talent within our growing organization within our Operations, Finance, or Commercial teams.

Program Structure

The program is divided into six phases:

  • Phase 1 - Operations
    • Develop an understanding of our products and materials.
    • Learn the process and flows of our yards and operations (including time with our Ferrous and Shredder Departments).
    • Learn the ins and outs of overseeing a feeder yard site.
    • Develop an understanding of our health and safety culture.
  • Phase 2 - Logistics
    • Learn how our material gets transported from our customers to our sites.
    • Learn how we dispatch and scale our material.
    • Learn the equipment needed to set up an account.
  • Phase 3 - Finance
    • Learn about our contracts and how they are processed.
    • Analyze inventory and learn about our month-end inventory process.
    • Learn how we process and pay our customers.
  • Phase 4 - Procurement
    • Learn how we establish supplier strategies and vendor management.
    • Collaborate with different departments to identify purchasing needs and strategies.
    • Participate in inventory management with our storekeepers.
  • Phase 5 - Human Resources
    • Participate in onboarding and integration of new employees.
    • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to learn and identify top talent.
    • Partner with the HR Ontario team to understand critical aspects of the HR function; succession planning, management training, compensation, dealing with difficult situations.
  • Phase 6 - Sales
    • Visit customer sites, interact, and build critical customer relationships.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to understand the process and importance of account managing.

Qualifications

To be considered for this program, you must be a recent graduate from a relevant University or college program. You should have strong written and oral communication skills, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel. Bilingualism is considered an asset. You should also have excellent customer service and organizational skills, and the ability to work well within team and individual settings.
