Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and qualified teacher to join our team on a temporary part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of subjects to students in our school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of subjects to students in our school community
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to diverse student needs
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student learning
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects
  • Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills
  • Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning
  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging
  • Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
  • Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning
  • Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity
  • Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
  • Training and experience teaching ELL, ASD and knowledge of materials and strategies appropriate for supporting students with ADHD, FAS and behavior disorders
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to support the learning of students with a wide variety of needs
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to create an inclusive and respectful classroom environment
  • Patience and Empathy: Willingness to support students' language acquisition journey
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication, both verbal and written, that adapts to the student's proficiency level
  • Differentiated Instruction: Ability to tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Strong Information Literacy Skills

Benefits

  • Compensation: $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
  • $2,947 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
  • Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $63,492 - $108,576
  • Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
  • Isolation allowance of $289.19 paid over 10 months
