Xpera is in search of a Project Manager for Environmental Spill Remediation to enhance our emergency response and remediation division. The role is crucial in overseeing projects that typically pertain to transportation-related incidents, residential fuel oil spills, and commercial chemical discharges. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, self-driven, and results-focused professional. The primary goals of this position include minimizing loss, site remediation, and facilitating the efficient closure of client cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct emergency response operations, including initial assessments, real-time remedial strategies, contractor management, cost oversight, and field documentation.
- Oversee spill response efforts, ensuring effective project management of field contractors and maintaining comprehensive scientific records throughout the remediation process.
- Prepare reports for clients and regulatory bodies, while engaging with regulators and other relevant stakeholders.
- Foster client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.
- Manage a diverse range of projects, primarily focusing on transportation-related incidents involving diesel fuel or fuel oil releases.
- Exhibit energy and decisiveness in field operations, supported by the head office.
- Travel is required, with occasional evening and weekend work compensated accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering (preferred) or a related diploma with relevant experience.
- A minimum of five years' experience in the environmental sector, including at least two years in project management.
- Proven experience in soil and groundwater remediation, including delineation, monitoring, and management.
- Familiarity with invoicing, budgeting, and other project management aspects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and readiness to travel within the designated area.
- Flexibility in scheduling, with a willingness to work after hours and on weekends as necessary.
