About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our team at Dillon Consulting. As a key member of our environmental consulting group, you will be responsible for managing and completing contaminated sites projects in Atlantic Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and complete contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II & III ESAs, hydrogeological investigations, soil and groundwater sampling programs, surface water and sediment sampling programs, soil vapour sampling, and contaminated site remediation projects.
  • Prepare and review written reports, compile and revise contracts and other supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and manage health and safety plans for field projects, coordinate field programs, prepare project contracts and agreements, and complete sub-contractor selection.
  • Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with clients, regulators, service providers, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Understand environmental regulations related to contaminated sites work in various locations.
Field Activities
  • Provide site supervision/contract administration on contaminated site and remediation projects that require a combination of technical depth and management skills in the field.
  • Complete contaminated site projects, including Phased Environmental Site Assessments and contaminated site remediation projects.
  • Train junior field staff in contaminated sites projects.
  • Ability to travel and conduct field work in urban and remote locations within Canada.
Business Development
  • Respond to Requests for Proposal related to contaminated sites work and develop strong client relationships.
  • Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with clients, regulators, service providers, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Lead in the development and enhancement of relationships with existing clients.
  • Lead in the identification and development of new business opportunities with both private and public sector clients.

Qualifications
  • A degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Geology or a related environmental field.
  • Designation (e.g. P.Eng.) is an asset.
  • More than 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or related industrial experience as an environmental professional and project manager.
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations.
  • Valid driver's license.
Experience
  • Strong field experience in areas such as collection and analysis of field data, environmental site assessments, remediation engineering, site characterization, environmental management, health and safety.
  • Management of multiple simultaneous environmental projects in remote and urban locations.
  • Technical experience in areas such as geology, hydrogeology, field procedures, environmental chemistry, contracting/construction, environmental and remediation engineering, site characterization, waste management, landfill monitoring, and health and safety.
  • Experience working around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation and policies.
  • Experience in construction monitoring and construction quality assurance for verifying remediation objectives have been achieved.
  • Experience in the tendering and procurement of remediation services.
  • Experience in hazardous building substances surveys.
  • Experience in training internal staff on field programs.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
