Opportunity Overview
Aecon, a market leader in infrastructure development, is seeking a seasoned Project Director to join our Heavy Civil East division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering transformative major projects within the GTA.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Development - Assist in securing new work through participation in bidding and proposal teams, ensuring commercial success and growth.
- Project Management - Oversee delivery against all budget, schedule, and quality targets, establishing a safe work environment and ensuring timely project completion.
- Stakeholder Management - Foster excellent relationships with clients, architects, engineering firms, joint venture partners, government agencies, and the public.
- People Management - Create and maintain a culture of open communication, respect, and expertise, hiring, supervising, coaching, and mentoring project personnel.
- Communication - Build engagement through ongoing communication with all staff and stakeholders, providing required project reporting and forecasting.
- Executive Responsibility - Serve as an Aecon ambassador, representing the company's interests to employees, clients, partners, the public, and executive leadership.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 20 years of construction leadership experience on complex major projects, with a proven track record of delivering commercial success.
- In-depth expertise in civil construction, including rail systems, and a solid understanding of complex contractual agreements and project financing.
- 2-3 years' experience working on complex rail projects, hard and soft rock tunneling, underground stations, and major pursuits and proposals.
- Proven ability to successfully manage large and complex construction projects through the full project lifecycle, with experience working on projects with international joint venture partners.
- Thorough knowledge of change management principles, claims management, and dispute resolution on major projects.
- Experience in liaising with client, subcontractor, and consultant representatives, and the ability to effectively recruit and build teams and manage senior project staff.
- Sound understanding of contractual, commercial, and financial functions on major projects, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in French and English is required (oral and written).
