Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the Diploma of Marine Engineering Technology and other relevant certification programs. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and updating course materials and curricula in alignment with industry standards.
- Collaborating with fellow educators in the continuous improvement of program offerings.
- Assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback.
- Engaging with industry stakeholders to ensure program relevance and effectiveness.
- Advising students on career pathways and practical training opportunities.
- Contributing to the design and implementation of online course content through the institution's Learning Management System.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess significant experience (minimum of 10 years) in the marine transportation sector, along with a valid Transport Canada Certificate of Competency at the First-Class Engineer level. An undergraduate degree in a relevant maritime discipline is required, although a combination of education and experience may be considered. Additional expertise in shipboard electrical systems and high voltage operations is advantageous. Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level is also preferred.
Compensation:
Salary will be determined in accordance with the collective agreement for instructors at the Marine Institute.
