In the role of Senior Care Support Specialist, you will assist residents with their daily routines, applying the Wellness Model of Care and Service philosophies to foster a sense of normalcy and enhance the quality of life for our residents, actively engaging them in their care while maintaining their independence.

About You

You possess a genuine passion for working with seniors and thrive on building meaningful, long-lasting relationships with those in your care. Your kindness and compassion are evident, complemented by your remarkable patience. You are an effective communicator, capable of conveying instructions clearly and understandably. People appreciate your attentive listening skills and your reliability in completing tasks. You take the safety of residents seriously, approaching physical interactions with a gentle demeanor. Your flexibility and adaptability enable you to navigate changing priorities and respond to situations that require quick thinking. A high school diploma and completion of a recognized nursing assistant program or a Health Care Assistant Certificate from an accredited institution are essential. You will be registered with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry and hold a Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.

About The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting residents with daily activities such as social engagement, physical exercise, and recreational pursuits.
  • Ensuring safety and efficiency in all tasks performed.
  • Fostering a culture of health and safety by leading through example and motivating the team to do the same.
  • Identifying and addressing hazards and unsafe practices, reporting them to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Communicating resident progress, attendance, and any changes in physical or cognitive abilities.
  • Representing Baptist Housing as an ambassador, embodying our ministry values in all interactions.

Must Haves

  • Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized Care Aide program.
  • Current registration with the BC Care Aide Registry.
  • Certification in medication administration.
  • Current First Aid certification with CPR.
