Working at the Sustainable Mobility Agency means playing a crucial role in enhancing the living conditions of Montreal residents by tackling significant urban planning, mobility, and transportation challenges while contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions associated with travel.

Your Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Financial Project Analyst will utilize their expertise in project financial management to aid in achieving the Agency's strategic objectives. In collaboration with the Director, they will ensure robust financial governance of projects by developing spending forecasts, monitoring incurred costs, and creating financial performance metrics.

Your Key Challenges:
  • Establishing Financial Processes:
    • Forge strong relationships with project managers to gain insights into projects and timelines, acting as a business partner while providing essential support to internal clients regarding their financial requirements;
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with sponsors and project managers to quantify project expenses;
    • Adjust project budgets in response to change requests throughout the project lifecycle;
    • Anticipate future costs and identify discrepancies;
    • Conduct cost-benefit analyses to inform project selection and initiatives.
  • Performance Monitoring:
    • Generate financial reports comparing actual expenses to planned budgets;
    • Analyze variances between budgeted, forecasted, and actual project costs, drawing conclusions and making recommendations;
    • Ensure precise allocation of project expenses;
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards for effective tracking;
    • Produce necessary financial information in line with funding agreements;
    • Formulate the Agency's ten-year investment strategy and reporting framework for external stakeholders;
    • Propose policies and procedures to ensure financial governance of projects;
    • Stay updated on best practices in the field and integrate them as opportunities arise.
Your Profile:
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and hold a CPA or CFA designation;
  • Have at least 5 years of experience as a project accountant or financial analyst in a long-term project environment;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint;
  • Exhibit strong leadership and excellent interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with individuals at all organizational levels;
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, autonomy, and the ability to prioritize requests from various departments;
  • Adapt to changing deadlines and manage priorities across multiple projects;
  • Possess outstanding communication skills in French, both spoken and written; knowledge of English is an asset.
