As a Lead Environmental Compliance Advisor, you will be an integral part of our team, contributing significantly to our expanding portfolio of environmental services for large-scale infrastructure initiatives through both business development and project execution. In this dynamic position, the Lead Environmental Compliance Advisor will collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to effectively address the increasing demands for environmental compliance on significant projects across the region:

  1. Direct and oversee environmental obligations on infrastructure initiatives throughout the region
  2. Provide leadership and technical guidance on environmental assessments, planning, design, and construction projects
  3. Engage with private and public sector clients, regulatory agencies, sub-consultants, and subcontractors.
  4. Facilitate communication and collaboration with stakeholders, including conservation authorities, municipal, provincial, and federal governments, and the public
  5. Coordinate with internal project teams across various disciplines, including engineers, hydrogeologists, and ecologists
  6. Utilize existing client relationships and develop new connections to create business development opportunities
  7. Lead and prepare competitive proposals and cost estimates for multidisciplinary projects
  8. Mentor and guide junior and intermediate staff members

What We Are Seeking

  1. Over 10 years of experience in construction, planning, or a consulting role managing environmental compliance
  2. A bachelor's or master's degree in environmental planning, urban planning, geography, environmental science, or a related discipline
  3. Proficiency in groundwater and surface water management, sustainability, noise and vibration, air quality, and species at risk permitting processes
  4. Capability to work on diverse projects across various sectors (e.g., urban, transportation, infrastructure, oil and gas, wind and hydropower).
  5. Experience with transportation and municipal infrastructure planning and construction projects
  6. Experience engaging with stakeholders, including First Nations, municipal governments, conservation authorities, and the private sector
  7. Strong project management skills, including budget development and monitoring, project scope and schedule management, organizational skills, staff supervision, and team communication.
  8. Knowledge and practical experience with regulatory requirements such as the Municipal Class EA process and the Canadian Impact Assessment Act
  9. Experience leading or supporting large proposals or bids
  10. Business development experience supported by a proven track record of building productive client relationships.
  11. A valid G class driver's license is required.

Additional Assets:

  1. Knowledge or technical experience with Regulation 153/04 and 406/19
  2. Experience working directly for a construction firm or consortium on P3 projects
  3. Familiarity with Metrolinx and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO)
  4. Knowledge of ISO 140001 standards
