Position Overview

WHAT'S THE ROLE?

Assist in the repair and upkeep of a medium-sized fleet of truck and trailer equipment. Support the maintenance of a varied fleet of heavy machinery. Conduct preventative maintenance on all fleet vehicles, including tractor-trailer units and heavy equipment. Accurately and efficiently complete work orders. Operate safely and comply with the company's safety protocols. Possess a working knowledge of vehicle safety regulations. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Collaborate with the lead mechanic to identify the specifications of tasks to be performed. Work cooperatively with fellow mechanics. Engage in training necessary to obtain a heavy-duty mechanic certification. Perform additional duties as needed. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including after-hours and weekends. Adapt to various environmental conditions while working.

Candidate Profile

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Valid Class 5 driver's license. Currently enrolled in a Heavy-Duty Apprentice program. Class 1 driver's license is an asset. Possession of some tools necessary for the job. Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and lifting objects weighing up to 45 lbs. Willingness to work at heights when necessary. Comfortable walking on various surfaces, including concrete and gravel. Manual dexterity is required for tasks such as lifting overhead, twisting, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces. The role involves working in diverse physical environments, both indoors and outdoors, under varying weather conditions. Personal protective equipment is frequently required to mitigate exposure to hazardous materials.
