Clinical Nurse Specialist

Completion of a recognized nursing program or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is essential. Certification from the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) in the relevant specialty or service area is mandatory, or proof of an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience. Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN is required. A minimum of three years of recent relevant experience in the field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is necessary.
For positions in Renal Transplant, a minimum of three years of recent relevant experience is required, including two (2) years specifically in transplant services. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is also necessary, along with comprehensive knowledge of nursing theories and evidence-based best practices in organ transplant care, and a valid BC driver's license.
For roles in the Liver Care Clinic, four (4) years of recent relevant experience (inclusive of education and training) in liver disease, behavioral counseling, and chronic disease management is required. Experience in Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU), palliative care, community care, outpatient, and/or emergency medicine is preferred.

- Strong organizational skills to manage workload and set priorities.

- Competence in planning, organizing, and evaluating patient care.
- Skills to assess the learning needs of individuals across the life cycle.
- Proficiency in teaching using child/adult education principles.
- Ability to apply adult learning principles in both individual and group settings.
- Effective interaction with a variety of internal and external contacts, including colleagues, physicians, community agencies, patients/clients/residents, and their families.
- Valid Class 5 vehicle license.
