Position Title: Clinical Research Nurse
Status: Regular Full Time
Hours: 08:00 – 16:00 (Monday – Friday)

Overview

The Clinical Research Nurse plays a pivotal role in managing clinical studies under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. This position is essential in ensuring that patient safety, welfare, treatment, and data collection comply with research protocols and are executed according to established research standards, ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and relevant regulations.

The ideal candidate will be self-driven, capable of grasping new treatment methodologies, and effectively communicating these concepts to potential research participants. A collaborative spirit and a commitment to evidence-based medicine are crucial for success in this role.

Reporting Structure

The Clinical Research Nurse will report directly to the Clinical Research Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate Clinical Research Studies
    • Gain a thorough understanding of research protocols.
    • Develop strategies for effective implementation of research protocols.
    • Engage with research sponsors and monitors as necessary.
    • Screen potential study participants based on defined criteria.
    • Communicate the research study details to prospective volunteers.
    • Secure informed consent from study participants.
    • Enroll and/or randomize participants according to the study design.
    • Ensure investigational products are managed in line with study guidelines.
    • Accurately collect patient data from various sources, including medical records and interviews, and ensure timely data entry.
    • Complete necessary training for protocol initiation promptly.
  2. Manage Patient Care During Research Studies
    • Ensure that enrolled participants progress according to the research protocol.
    • Provide care and treatment in accordance with the study guidelines.
    • Verify that treatments administered by primary care staff align with the study protocol.
    • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
    • Schedule appointments with patients and healthcare providers as per the study requirements.
    • Collect and process blood samples for laboratory analysis following protocol.
    • Initiate orders for necessary diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
  3. Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals
    • Provide training to healthcare staff on patient care and treatment specific to the study protocol.
    • Maintain open lines of communication with healthcare professionals to address study-related inquiries.
  4. Support Research Activities
    • Assist with related duties or special projects as requested.

Job Specifications

Education: Formal Nursing education required.

Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) with a current practicing license.

Experience: Minimum of two years of nursing experience or prior research experience, particularly in intensive care, cardiology, or emergency settings.

Special Skills: Proficient in using software for communication and data entry into electronic clinical research forms. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and ICH guidelines, as well as relevant regulations. A valid driver's license is required for commuting.

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Compensation: $40.00-$47.00 per hour
