Senior Construction Risk Underwriter

In the role of Senior Construction Risk Underwriter, you will take charge of evaluating and underwriting intricate construction-related risks. Your contributions are vital to sustaining exceptional service levels and fostering the overall growth and success of the organization. You will collaborate with a proactive team dedicated to maintaining our status as a frontrunner in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Risk Evaluation and Underwriting: Conduct thorough evaluations and underwriting of complex construction risks, emphasizing builder's risk and wrap-up liability. Lead the risk assessment process to ensure comprehensive evaluations.
  • Documentation Analysis and Data Collection: Examine submission documents meticulously, including engineering assessments and budget outlines. Request supplementary information as necessary for in-depth evaluations.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Standards Maintenance: Guarantee that all actions align with company policies and underwriting protocols. Uphold the integrity of underwriting operations.
  • Collaboration with Carriers: Prepare documentation for carrier referrals both domestically and internationally. Foster productive relationships with carrier partners.
  • Broker Engagement and Negotiation: Present quotes to brokers, negotiating terms for clients. Enhance client satisfaction and business outcomes through effective negotiation strategies.
  • Business Growth Initiatives: Seek new broker and carrier partnerships while cultivating existing relationships. Propel growth and expansion through networking and professional connections.
  • Excellence in Customer Service: Advocate for a high standard of customer service to reinforce the company's reputation as client-focused.
  • Mentorship and Team Development: Assist in the development of junior staff members to nurture the future talent of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in Commercial Insurance underwriting with a specialization in construction
  • Robust analytical abilities and sound judgment in risk assessment
  • Preferred experience in business development and sales
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
  • Dedication to high standards of customer service
  • Leadership qualities and a passion for mentoring
  • Familiarity with the insurance sector and regulatory standards

  • Experience with broker management systems
  • Willingness to travel as necessary
  • CIP Designation and RIBO License are advantageous
