The Opportunity
This role is situated within our Established Pharmaceuticals division (EPD). In EPD, we strive to extend the advantages of our trusted medications to a broader audience in rapidly developing regions. Our extensive portfolio of high-quality branded generic medicines spans various therapeutic areas, including gastroenterology, women's health, cardiometabolic conditions, pain management, and respiratory health.
As part of a collaborative team, the laboratory analyst is responsible for conducting timely analyses of manufacturing solutions and component materials to ensure compliance with established specifications. The laboratory analyst is accountable to the supervisor for delivering exceptional performance and fostering continuous improvement in quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control Analyst Duties:
• Conduct sampling and analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods in accordance with the quality control program;
• Analyze final products, including preparation of standards for HPLC and interpretation of results;
• Prepare various solutions for analytical purposes;
• Calibrate laboratory equipment as per standard operating procedures (SOPs);
• Communicate relevant information to appropriate personnel;
• Maintain comprehensive records of all tests, procedures, and results, including stability studies, and report non-compliance findings to the QC Supervisor or QA/QC Manager;
• Prepare labels for the release of raw materials and finished products;
• Adhere to security protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) during analyses;
• Ensure cleanliness in the laboratory and comply with health and safety regulations;
• Contribute to the development of SOPs.
Subject Matter Expert Support:
• Update laboratory procedures for new systems, modifications, or corrective actions;
• Oversee calibration and maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment;
• Implement and evaluate new laboratory equipment and systems;
• Monitor validation processes conducted by the QC laboratory (production and QC validations);
• Update and analyze laboratory key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitored products and systems;
• Assist in troubleshooting analytical techniques or instrument issues;
• Serve as a backup Subject Matter Expert during audits concerning laboratory activities.
Technical Advisor Support – Inter-Departmental:
• Conduct laboratory investigations for all events impacting the QC laboratory;
• Liaise with external laboratories for analysis follow-up;
• Provide analytical support to S&T or BEx for requests;
• Facilitate training on equipment, techniques, and procedures related to the QC laboratory.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
• Actively participate in meetings with production and QA-QC departments;
• Continuously enhance methods, procedures, equipment, and techniques within the QC department, proposing improvements where applicable;
• Contribute to the development of new techniques and methods for routine, non-routine, and project-related work.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Engage in the implementation of lean continuous improvement tools within the QC lab;
• Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes team effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
• A college degree in a scientific field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc.) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry, demonstrating strong knowledge in chemistry, particularly HPLC;
• Over 5 years of experience in a similar capacity;
• Proficient in both written English and French;
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite);
• Ability to thrive in a continuous improvement environment (LEAN principles).
