Manager, Faculty HR

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Faculty HR Manager to join its team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the success of the Faculty of Medicine.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the HR function and administrative practices for all faculty members across the Faculty of Medicine. This includes developing and implementing standardized human resource practices, procedures, and comprehensive systems having a significant impact within all Departments, Schools, and Centres.
The Faculty HR Manager will work closely with academic leaders and staff administrators, as well as individual faculty members, to provide guidance and advice on all aspects of faculty appointments, tenure, and promotion, leaves, terminations, and retirement.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human resources, with experience in faculty appointments and UBC human resources. They will be able to build and maintain relationships with diverse teams, clients, and central University offices. Excellent technical and analytical skills, as well as the ability to prioritize, work effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines, are essential.
The Faculty HR Manager will be responsible for managing staff performance, establishing standards and goals, evaluating performance, providing feedback, and taking corrective action. They will also be responsible for supervising and directing the work of the Assistant, Faculty, HR.
This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high degree of discretion, judgment, and initiative. The successful candidate will be able to exercise tact, diplomacy, confidentiality, and understanding of the complexities of the Faculty of Medicine.
