Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Art Director to lead our Technical Art team and drive the development of high-quality tools, technologies, and art workflows. As a Technical Art Director, you will be responsible for ensuring project quality, team well-being, and providing high-quality tools and technology to support internal product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Technical Art team and provide guidance to individual contributors
  • Build and maintain technologies and art workflows, including environments, props, characters, shaders, lighting, and rigs
  • Collaborate with Art and Engineering teams to drive research and identify new workflows and technologies for improved pipelines and streamlined creation processes
  • Establish and implement naming conventions within assets, tools, and workflows
  • Develop standards and metrics for budgeting and supervising technical art tasks
  • Partner with the engineering team to ensure build stability and memory and performance budgets are being maintained

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the games, film, or animation industries
  • Previous experience leading technical art teams and shipping at least 2 AAA titles in a leadership position
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong Unreal 5 experience is an asset
  • Fluent in Maya and Python with significant experience writing animation, rigging, shaders, and UI tools
  • Experience with cloth and rigid/soft body physics setup for characters, including collision volumes
  • Experience researching, piloting, and rolling out new techniques
  • Interest in gaming platform limitations and advantages
  • Ability to turn creative aspirations into achievable realities

What We Offer

As a Technical Art Director at 2K Sports Lab, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborate with a talented team, and contribute to the development of high-quality tools and technologies. We offer a competitive salary range of $192,000 to $295,000 CAD per year, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, financial, and other benefits.
