Position Overview
The Infrastructure and Network Operations Expert plays a crucial role in the installation, configuration, administration, and documentation of all Windows and Linux server infrastructure components within the Kohl & Frisch ecosystem. This role demands intermediate to senior-level expertise in server architecture, troubleshooting, and a solid grasp of IT Security. The individual will spearhead projects related to servers, applications, and Microsoft Azure, providing hands-on technical direction to ensure system availability for business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Server Management: Oversee the complete lifecycle management of Windows and Linux servers, including installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and performance optimization to ensure robust and secure server operations.
- Backup System Management: Ensure data integrity by managing backup systems, performing regular backups, resolving issues, and validating data recovery protocols.
- Documentation and Training: Create detailed documentation for all operational processes and conduct training sessions to ensure team proficiency in established practices.
- System Monitoring and Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance strategies to optimize system performance, monitor health, gather performance metrics, and proactively address errors.
- Security Monitoring: Actively monitor security events using SIEM tools, collaborating with internal and external teams to mitigate and resolve potential threats.
- Change Management: Engage in the Change Management process, advocating for necessary system updates to maintain a competitive infrastructure.
- Network Hardware Management: Install and manage essential network hardware devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, and access points, to ensure a reliable and scalable network.
- Network Performance Improvement: Continuously assess and identify opportunities for enhancing network hardware and configurations to boost overall performance and reliability.
- AS400 Systems Management: Oversee AS400 systems, ensuring consistent backups, timely updates, and the resilience of network operations.
- On-Call Support: Provide after-hours support to address critical technical issues as they arise.
- IT Infrastructure Setup and Troubleshooting: Travel to various sites to apply expertise in setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting IT infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in network administration with a comprehensive understanding of network infrastructure, server management, and security protocols.
- Proficient in managing Windows and Linux server environments, focusing on high availability and performance.
- Experienced in configuring and troubleshooting backup systems, committed to data preservation.
- Skilled in creating process documentation and delivering effective training.
- Adept in using SIEM tools for proactive security monitoring.
- Engaged in change management processes with a keen eye for system enhancements.
- Hands-on experience with various network hardware devices, with a focus on performance improvement.
- Familiarity with AS400 system support, ensuring seamless integration within the network.
- Availability for on-call support and willingness to travel for IT infrastructure initiatives.
- College diploma, university degree, or equivalent experience in IT system administration.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise server infrastructure.
- Experience troubleshooting Windows and Linux servers.
- Azure Certifications are preferred.
- Additional certifications such as CCNA, NSE 4, and experience with Radius servers, AS400 systems, Cisco and Fortinet technologies, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Microsoft Azure, O365, MS Defender, and Intune are advantageous.
- Experience with backup and storage solutions.
