About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Worker to provide support to our Child Protection Workers in the Marathon District Office. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in scheduling and facilitating supervised access, while also providing a wide range of social service support functions that contribute to therapeutic plans and programs for individuals, families, children, and youth.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to Child Protection Workers in the Marathon District Office, focusing on scheduling and facilitating supervised access.
- Contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a commitment to eliminating disparity and disproportionality in service outcomes.
- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of child development, including normal physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development, as well as the ability to differentiate normal development from developmental delays precipitated by trauma, maltreatment, family violence, and other environmental factors.
- Engage and develop trusting relationships with parents, children, and youth receiving child welfare services, while also collaborating with Agency case workers and community collaterals.
- Assess immediate risk concerns to self and/or child during interactions, and respond in an appropriate and safe manner.
- Present a balanced assessment of parenting strengths and challenges, using all relevant information to inform collaborative case planning and placement decisions.
- Provide parenting intervention strategies via feedback, coaching, and collaborative goal setting with family members, consistent with a strengths-based approach.
- Child and Youth Worker Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong observation skills, with the ability to assess risk concerns and respond safely.
- Proven ability to work as an integral member of a team, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Reliable vehicle, safe driving record, and valid G Driver's Licence.
- Current Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector), deemed satisfactory to the employer.
