Job Title: Family Support Worker

Join The Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay in a rewarding role as a Family Support Worker. In this position, you will provide critical support to Child Protection Workers in the Marathon District Office, focusing on scheduling and facilitating supervised access. Your expertise will contribute to therapeutic plans and programs for individuals, families, children, and youth receiving services from the Marathon District Office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a wide range of social service support functions to contribute to therapeutic plans and programs.
  • Schedule and facilitate supervised access for families and children.
  • Work collaboratively with Child Protection Workers to provide support and guidance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with families and children to ensure effective support and services.
  • Contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a commitment to eliminating disparity and disproportionality in service outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Child and Youth Worker Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective organization and planning skills to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong observation skills related to parent-child interactions.
  • Ability to assess immediate risk concerns and respond appropriately.
  • Knowledge of parenting intervention strategies and ability to provide feedback and coaching.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Proven ability to work as an integral member of a team.
  • Reliable vehicle, safe driving record, and valid G Driver's Licence.
  • Current Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector) deemed satisfactory to the employer.
