The Control Systems Operations Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the secure and efficient management of the control systems applications and information networks within the refinery. This position is vital for supporting various teams in executing critical tasks related to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, including asset management and equipment monitoring. The specialist is tasked with safeguarding essential business information, ensuring its availability and integrity to facilitate corporate strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Formulate recommendations for design modifications, enhancements, and operational optimizations to promote growth, reliability, and automation, ensuring the effective functioning of control system applications. Oversee upgrades in accordance with the Management of Change (MOC) process, managing vendor interactions, testing, and installation coordination. Serve as the primary technical liaison with third-party vendors, advocating for the company's application management needs while collaborating with refinery teams to translate requirements into actionable projects. Implement and enhance cybersecurity measures, manage patching, and validate compliance with established policies and best practices. Configure and sustain automation systems databases, ensuring that plant historian data is accurately collected and archived for future analysis. Facilitate data interfacing through communication servers, enabling third-party applications to function effectively. Develop and maintain backup strategies to meet identified requirements, ensuring validation and testing practices adhere to policies. Create a reliability plan to manage system life cycles, ensuring optimal performance and timely upgrades to new technologies. Conduct preventive maintenance to guarantee uninterrupted operations and recommend performance optimizations.Required Skills:
Strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management and multitasking abilities. Proven capability to contribute effectively within a collaborative team setting. Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills, with the flexibility to adapt focus based on operational needs.Experience and Qualifications:
NBSCETT PTech Certification is advantageous. 5-10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in an industrial setting, preferably in refining.Work Environment:
