What we seek:

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Agricultural Operations Manager will oversee the farm's overall performance, focusing on efficiency, productivity, and profitability. This role involves managing daily farm operations and developing strategies to optimize performance while adhering to the highest industry standards for safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Excellence: Continuously strive for improvement.
  2. Utilize lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, enhance processes, reduce costs, and foster innovation.
  3. Oversee all operational functions, including safety, material coordination, labor, and equipment management to meet production goals.
  4. Establish performance metrics.
  5. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all products undergo rigorous quality control testing.
  6. Leadership: Promote a culture of continuous performance improvement and accountability.
  7. Inspire, attract, and retain a high-performing team.
  8. Implement staffing solutions that align with financial objectives and growth projections.
  9. Maintain open communication and approachability.
  10. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks to ensure operational continuity.
  11. Safety Commitment: Ensure production staff are equipped with the necessary tools and training to uphold safety standards.
  12. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and best practices.
  13. Foster a culture centered on health and safety.
  14. Work with the Quality Assurance team to guarantee safe product delivery.
  15. Ensure all staff are trained in food safety and sanitation practices.
  16. Communicate any procedural changes affecting food safety to the QA Department.
  17. Act as a leader in promoting a healthy and inclusive work environment.
  18. Financial Performance: Accountable for the farm's overall profitability and operational success.
  19. Align farm operations with sales targets and objectives.
  20. Plan and control production to ensure efficiency and quality.
  21. Assess labor requirements based on budget and optimize scheduling.
  22. Collaborate with horticulture leads to set performance benchmarks.
  23. Manage resource allocation for project activities.
  24. Production & Logistics: Effectively develop and support direct reports.
  25. Maintain regular communication with team members and department heads to align on operational priorities.
  26. Continuously seek improvement opportunities in processes and resource management.
  27. Measure and manage performance to exceed goals.
  28. Prepare and present performance reports to assist in decision-making.
  29. Engage in vendor negotiations to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  30. Ensure logistics and supply chain processes enhance customer satisfaction.
  31. Stay informed on industry best practices and trends.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 10+ years of experience in leading production operations within the food processing or manufacturing sectors.
  3. Knowledge of production processes, quality systems, and safety standards.
  4. Experience in leadership roles within new facility scaling is preferred.
  5. Proven ability to develop talent and manage teams effectively.
  6. Experience in utilizing analytics and developing performance metrics.
  7. Experience with facility launches or startups is highly desirable.
  8. Fluency in French is a plus.
