About the Teaching and Learning Centre of InnovationThe Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation (TLCI) at Olds College of Agriculture and Technology serves students, faculty and staff in the following areas: Accessibility Services and Student Academic Support, Learning Commons (including the Library and Service Desk), Educational Development (including program and curriculum support, instructional support, professional development, Work Integrated Learning academic support, and Research and Scholarly Activity), Moodle and Google training and support, The Studio video production services, and the MakerSpace.
The Opportunity - Contract Tutor, Business ProgramsA contract opportunity is available to tutor Olds College students in Learning Commons (library) during the academic year. Hours vary according to subject and student needs. Applicants must be prepared to work flexible hours, which may include days and/or evenings.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate student learning in both one-on-one and small group settings.
- Preference will be given to those individuals with familiarity with Olds College programming.
- Data recording/reporting as assigned.
- Report to the Manager, Student Experience and Educational Design, but may be required to communicate and collaborate with instructors as needed.
- Baccalaureate or Diploma in a related discipline (Business Administration, Accounting, Management, etc.).
- Tutoring/teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
- Strong understanding of Accounting, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and Finance.
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as time management skills and a willingness to learn and grow professionally.
- Effective communicator comfortable working with diverse populations (including those for whom English is a second language).
- Appropriate technology and connectivity to videoconference is a requirement for virtual tutoring.
- Enthusiasm for integrating technology into learning strategies is desirable; successful candidates will be proficient in both MS Office and the Google suite of apps.
- A dynamic and supportive work environment.
