Job Summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in protecting, restoring, and promoting health and reducing the incidence of disease and disability through health promotion, health protection, and disease/injury prevention activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a full continuum of public health services to individuals in the community in accordance with the public health program standards set by the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH).
  • Practice within the context of the Department's Model of Care and be responsible for the public health programs as determined by the needs of the community with a focus on maternal child health, school health, communicable diseases, and immunizations.
  • Work with others in the community on a range of public health issues as determined by community priorities to empower Nunavummiut to live healthy lives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree of Nursing or Diploma in Nursing with a Certificate in Public Health, plus a minimum of two years public health nursing experience or related.
  • Current CPR Level Certification, annual registration with a professional government body in good standing adhering to all legal and ethical standards required.
  • Experience working in remote and isolated communities, Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) Skills Online courses, Canadian Nurse Association (CAN) and Canadian Health Nurses of Canada (CHNC) certification considered assets.
