Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nursery Manager to join our team at JRT Nurseries Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our nursery, including staff supervision, inventory management, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise a team of nursery staff to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Inventory Management: Determine the type and quantity of stock to grow, order materials and stock, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, respond to customer inquiries, and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Work Site Environment: Ensure a safe and healthy work environment, including managing hot and outdoor conditions, and controlling odours.
- Task Management: Control reported insect, disease, and weed problems, establish work schedules, and supervise staff in planting, transplanting, feeding, and spraying.
- Product Management: Determine the type and quantity of stock to grow, including deciduous trees, ferns, perennials, berry bushes, fruit trees, seasonal plants, and ornamental trees, shrubs, and hedges.
- Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ensure a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, and handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Other Benefits: Offer on-site housing options, a permanent work term, and a 40-hour work week.
