Position Overview

The Contracts and Credit Risk Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing and overseeing contract awards and associated activities, particularly for complex and high-value agreements.
Reporting directly to the Director of Contracts, Risk & Process Development, this position encompasses various facets of contract management, including contract formulation, negotiation, and conflict resolution. The specialist will support operations within the Canadian business unit, taking ownership of contractual agreements and associated risks, while also assessing credit risks and evaluating creditworthiness independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update the Master Service Agreement (MSA) library, ensuring annual reviews and necessary amendments.
  • Uphold ethical standards across company, departmental, and professional levels at all times.
  • Conduct regular reporting to Senior Management regarding contract activities.
  • Ensure that project contracts clearly outline appropriate terms and conditions, negotiating acceptable resolutions as needed.
  • Analyze contracts exceeding $1M for risk factors and provide executive summaries to authorized signatories.
  • Offer technical guidance and clear contract advice to team members handling agreements.
  • Perform periodic evaluations of contract performance during project execution and assist in conflict resolution as required.
  • Collaborate with construction teams, external project developers, and consultants, including Corporate Legal Counsel, to establish effective contract management systems.
  • Work with finance to conduct credit risk assessments for new and existing clients.
  • Assist in collections and payment restructuring when necessary.
  • Maintain project closure status within our internal project management software, PACT.
  • Support Project Delivery and Operations teams in managing contracts, including changes and conflict resolution.
  • Implement updates in customer contracts to reflect lessons learned, industry standards, and relevant legal changes.
  • Manage and improve ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) data.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in project contract management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Solid understanding of credit, credit risk, and credit reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology and construction contract law is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Familiarity with construction processes, particularly in foundation works, is an asset.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented work that may be subject to frequent interruptions requiring immediate attention.
  • Ability to work at an accelerated pace during peak periods due to demanding deadlines.
