As we embark on a groundbreaking partnership with Nova Scotia Health (NSH), we are proud to introduce the first transitional care center in our province, located in West Bedford. Shannex serves as the operational partner for this center, dedicated to supporting NSH patients in the central zone who are ready to transition from hospital care to their homes or communities.

We are currently seeking a Housekeeper to become a vital member of our Transitional Care Centre team in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive housekeeping, laundry, and basic maintenance tasks throughout the facility.
  • Conduct sweeping, dusting, and mopping of floors.
  • Dust, clean, and polish furniture, countertops, shelving, walls, and window ledges according to established routines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of sinks, toilets, and bathing facilities using appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling materials.
  • Utilize floor machines for buffing and scrubbing floors as per established procedures.
  • Restock supplies in patient rooms, nursing units, and restrooms as necessary.
  • Manage trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste.
  • Assist in the movement and arrangement of furniture and equipment as required.
  • Promote a culture of safety by adhering to safe work practices and reporting hazards.
  • Uphold patient safety by following all operational procedures and training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in environmental services.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in housekeeping and laundry within a long-term care setting is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong initiative and commitment to completing tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and responsible behavior.
  • Ability to follow instructions and cooperate with supervisors.
  • Effective listening and communication skills.
  • Asset: First Aid and CPR certification.
