Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Planning Manager, the Senior Demand Planner is responsible for managing the sales forecasting process that informs production planning and distribution of finished goods, as well as the procurement of raw materials. This role requires close collaboration with management, sales, customer service, finance, and marketing teams. The Senior Demand Planner will also play a key role in the implementation of a new ERP system. The ideal candidate will possess experience with MRP/ERP systems and a strong understanding of forecasting, planning, and supply chain methodologies.
Daily Responsibilities:
Your day begins with engaging with colleagues over coffee. Following this, you will focus on reviewing forecast adjustments and key performance metrics, particularly forecast accuracy. The morning will involve analyzing data such as sales and inventory levels to refine forecasts and identify trends or behaviors that deviate from expectations. You will collaborate with sales and planning team members to share insights that enhance forecast accuracy. Additionally, you will develop strategies based on input from the planning team, considering specific factors for items in various locations and updating relevant data. Your day concludes with documenting valuable insights and preparing reports to ensure a productive start to the following workday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create 12-month forecasts at various aggregation levels using diverse statistical techniques, including regression and time series analysis.
- Conduct weekly data analysis and cleansing to identify anomalies, special events, and other variables influencing final forecasts.
- Collaborate with sales managers to gather insights on product trends, warehouse strategies, competitor activities, and other pertinent information for sales forecasts.
- Maintain the monthly Sales and Operations Plan (S&OP) in partnership with company leaders to align sales goals, establish strategies, and identify external factors affecting forecasts.
- Analyze discrepancies between actual sales and forecasts (forecast accuracy) to understand demand-affecting variables and present findings at monthly S&OP meetings.
- Assist in setting minimum-maximum inventory levels, inventory turnover rates, service levels, and overstock targets to meet corporate standards across all Techo-Bloc distribution centers, while establishing a production capacity plan.
- Identify and help resolve conflicts related to supply, demand, and capacity, proposing product life cycles, including forecasts for new products and identifying items for discontinuation.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, statistics, or a related field;
A minimum of 4 years of experience in demand planning and analysis;
Proficiency in statistics and forecasting;
Experience with R, Python, and VBA is a plus;
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, XLookup, Power Queries, and graphs);
Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems;
APICS - CPIM certification (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) is advantageous;
Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to deadlines;
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English (English proficiency is essential for serving customers in the USA).
