Job Title: Senior Control Systems Hardware Designer

ATS Automation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Hardware Designer to join our Life Sciences Systems team. As a key member of our Controls Engineering Department, you will be responsible for designing and developing complete control systems and electrical design packages for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop control systems and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and ATS standard design practices.
  • Work with mechanical designers to design control systems that enable machines to perform their intended functions safely and reliably.
  • Formulate and produce complete electrical design packages, including detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, enhancing safety, functionality, and reducing costs.
  • Specify electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisitions for material purchases.
  • Integrate third-party equipment and electronic components into electrical design packages.
  • Verify that electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards.
  • Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide customers with complete, functional systems.
  • Provide customers with training specific to their current project.
Qualifications:
  • A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field.
  • A working knowledge of ePlan and AutoCAD and the ability to keep abreast of leading-edge technology.
