Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Science Engineer to join our team at JRS Engineering. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for conducting investigations, producing reports, and undertaking design work on a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise
    • Prepare comprehensive reports on building envelope condition assessments, leak investigations, and warranty reviews.
    • Develop building envelope design solutions, including drafting design and construction documents, and applying knowledge of City and Municipal Building Codes.
    • Conduct third-party reviews of building envelope designs for new construction and major retrofit projects.
    • Assist with field reviews, investigations, contract administration, and quality assurance during all stages of consulting and new construction projects.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with other engineers and project managers to expand knowledge base and experience.
    • Build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to achieve repeat business.
    • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Professional Development
    • Pursue ongoing professional development through conferences, seminars, and other training opportunities.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in building science and engineering.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Applied Science/Engineering and EIT designation with EGBC.
  • 1 to 4 years of work experience in building science or construction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate vague or complex requests into concrete actions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and varied workload.
