Position Overview

In this pivotal role, reporting directly to the Manager of Staffed Homes, the Community Living Counsellor, Team Lead will assist in all facets of team management and home assistance. Acting as the primary contact, you will resolve issues and mentor a dedicated team of Community Living Counsellors. Your collaboration with the team will focus on delivering impactful and exemplary Person-Centered Active Supports. Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating and empowering individuals to engage fully in their communities
  • Assisting the Manager with both administrative and financial responsibilities
  • Inspiring and guiding a team of Counsellors
  • Supporting individuals in achieving various personal objectives
  • Performing home support tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
  • Organizing community activities, such as volunteering and leisure pursuits
  • Keeping detailed records of daily activities and progress towards goals
  • Coaching and mentoring your team in effective support methodologies

Candidate Profile

Your background in providing compassionate and consistent support to adults with developmental disabilities, combined with your leadership capabilities, will empower you to excel in this position. You are driven by the desire to help individuals achieve success in various aspects of their lives by offering them skills and opportunities to grow, engage in community activities, secure volunteer or paid roles, and master daily living tasks. You will also address unique support needs, including personal care.

Work Schedule:

Permanent Full-time

  • Schedule to be determined

Required Qualifications:

  • Class 5 driver's license (permanent staff must be willing to obtain Class 4)
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Clear criminal record (covered by CLS)
  • Clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous paid or volunteer experience
  • Familiarity with ASL (or willingness to learn)
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
  • Mandt System Training
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Understanding of Person-Centered Active Supports
