Job Overview

The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Associate to provide vital custodial services and maintenance duties, ensuring a pristine environment for all public and office spaces throughout the campus.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Maintenance Associates may be tasked with custodial or maintenance duties in various areas including classrooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, gyms, locker rooms, public restrooms, offices, kitchens, and dining areas. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
  • Dusting and sanitizing surfaces and tables
  • Cleaning windows and window sills
  • Maintaining cleanliness in public restrooms, sinks, showers, and changing areas
  • Disposing of waste and collecting recyclable materials

Facilities Maintenance Associates may occasionally be required to lift heavy items and utilize various cleaning agents. Personal protective equipment will be provided for safety.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong understanding of general cleaning protocols and their application
  • Self-driven with the capability to work autonomously
  • Requires minimal supervision beyond initial training and daily task assignments
  • Demonstrates effective prioritization skills, as daily responsibilities may vary based on campus activities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication abilities, as this role involves interaction with clients and colleagues
  • Completes tasks to a high standard, with a keen eye for detail
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds

Additional Requirements

  • This position necessitates availability for a rotating schedule. Days off may vary weekly and may not be consecutive.

Employment Terms & Benefits

  • This is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a probationary period.
  • Compensation is $18.64 per hour, with up to 37.5 hours of work per week on a rotating schedule.
