Job Title: Registered Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.

Job Summary:

The Registered Practical Nurse will provide high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional healthcare services. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Conduct specimen collection and ensure accurate laboratory results
  • Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions, and consult with healthcare team members
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including wound care and dressing changes
  • Assist with patient transfers, mobilization, and positioning
  • Participate in patient education and health promotion initiatives
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly
Requirements:
  • Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
