Job Title: Consultant, Social Performance

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant, Social Performance to join our Canada team. The successful candidate will take a supporting role on a range of social performance tasks, including stakeholder and Indigenous group engagement, data management, and strategic planning and delivery. The focus of work will be related to the mining, energy, and technology sectors.

Responsibilities:
  • Support a wide variety of social performance projects, including research, note-taking, report writing, data collection, and literature review.
  • Support project management activities, including health and safety protocol management, monitoring of commercial performance, and quality review of deliverables.
  • Provide technical expertise related to socioeconomic impact assessment, stakeholder and Indigenous engagement, due diligence, risk assessment and mitigation, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Understand and apply relevant regulatory requirements and other guidance, including provincial and federal permits and regulations, international standards, and industry guidance.
  • Collaborate with other ERM practitioners to execute projects and participate on project teams.
  • Contribute to proposal development and support client relationships to maintain new and repeat business.
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in international development, economics, social science, law, geography, public health, public policy, political science, resource management, anthropology, or a similar degree.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, including stakeholder and Indigenous group engagement, field work, impact assessment, environmental and social due diligence, and/or other activities in Canada and/or internationally.
  • Experience working with local, regional, and Indigenous governments, local communities and residents, NGOs, etc.
  • Solid grasp of the key social performance issues, management challenges, and opportunities related to resource development, especially mining and energy sectors.
  • Versatile, responsive, self-driven, accountable, and results-oriented. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.
  • Proven record of effective time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including exceptional writing skills.
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in another language (particularly French or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Will and able to travel domestically and internationally.
