Engineering Supervisor

Linamar Corporation is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead, mentor, and oversee our talented team of engineers. This role presents a remarkable opportunity within a dynamic, high-volume, and technologically advanced manufacturing environment that fosters continuous professional development and career growth.

This position is directly accountable to the Engineering Manager and requires full-time presence at our facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a technical team of 8, including Program Managers, Project Engineers, and Process Engineers.
  • Create process plans for new components, conduct time studies, prepare cost estimates, and review current manufacturing processes.
  • Perform feasibility assessments to determine necessary equipment and justifications.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to address production issues.
  • Plan and investigate industrial activities such as takt time analysis, tooling evaluations, ergonomic assessments, and safety inspections.
  • Review Customer Focus Plans, Corrective Actions, and Engineering Change Requests to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of new engineering analysis tools, including CAD and CAD/CAM systems.
  • Select appropriate equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee the installation and initial operation of equipment.
  • Conduct and document machine tool capability assessments.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for production challenges as needed.
  • Assign project engineers to manage customer relations, quotations, program introductions, production runs, and problem-solving efforts.
  • Support the preparation of Scientific Research and Experimental Development claims.
  • Responsible for optimizing plant layout.
  • Maintain production schedules to monitor project progress and completion.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in a machining or manufacturing setting.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or project management role.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods, process capability requirements, and lot control techniques.
  • Understanding of Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and computer-aided design/manufacturing tools.
  • Ability to perform precise measurements using specialized tools and techniques.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and advancements in the engineering sector.
