Position Overview

The Pharmacy Technician, under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist, executes assigned responsibilities pertaining to the technical and administrative operations of the pharmacy, in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and philosophy of the Northern Health Region.

Educational Requirements

  1. Completion of secondary education (Grade 12)
  2. Successful attainment of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate or the program outlined by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba for those completing a non-CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate
  3. Completion or eligibility for the CPhM Pharmacy Technician Structural Practical Training Program and CPhM Pharmacy Technician Jurisprudence Examination

Licensure and Registration

  1. Must be recognized or eligible for recognition as a Pharmacy Technician by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM).

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Proficient in Windows-based applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet navigation
  2. Knowledge of WHMIS and safe handling of cytotoxic materials
  3. Willingness to achieve NAPRA validation through the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and/or Cancer Care Manitoba for sterile compounding services
  4. Ability to uphold Pharmacy Program Pharmacy Technician competency evaluations
