Overview of the Position

The Pharmacy Technician position, under the supervision of a pharmacist, performs technical and clerical functions of the pharmacy, aligning with the Northern Health Region's mission, vision, values, and philosophy.

Education Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 education
  • Successful completion of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate or the program prescribed by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba for candidates who successfully complete a non-CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate
  • Completion or eligibility to complete the CPhM Pharmacy Technician Structural Practical Training Program and CPhM Pharmacy Technician Jurisprudence Examination

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Recognition or eligibility to be recognized as a Pharmacy Technician by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) is required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Working knowledge of Windows-based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet
  • WHIMIS and proper handling of cytotoxic substances
  • Ability to become NAPRA validated by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and/or Cancer Care Manitoba to perform sterile compounding services
  • Ability to maintain Pharmacy Program Pharmacy Technician competency assessments
