Position Overview:

The Ski Patrol Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership, administration, and strategic direction for the ski patrol department. This role is essential in ensuring a safe and enjoyable skiing experience for all guests and staff by delivering timely information, first aid, and emergency services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations and supervision of the ski patrol team.
  • Support the department manager in staffing, training, and evaluating personnel to foster a competent and innovative workforce aligned with corporate values.
  • Assist in the development of budget proposals and monitor expenses related to patrol operations and capital projects, ensuring adherence to approved budgets.
  • Design and implement tactical plans to achieve corporate service standards and manage special events, including the placement and upkeep of trail signage and safety measures.
  • Contribute to the snow safety program, focusing on:
    • Operational objectives
    • Stability assessments
    • Avalanche management
  • Oversee the maintenance of all equipment and assets within the Patrol Center and Mountain Huts.
  • Coordinate the preparation and management of public safety measures for special events, ensuring effective crowd control.
  • Administer comprehensive training programs for staff, covering:
    • First Aid
    • CPR
    • Avalanche rescue techniques
    • Search operations
    • Snow science principles

Qualifications:

  • Experience in ski patrol operations at a prominent mountain resort.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree is preferred.

Skills and Certifications:

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid from a recognized organization; strong knowledge of avalanche rescue protocols; excellent supervisory and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transport toboggans weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Clear hearing and speaking abilities for effective communication.
  • Proficient skiing skills across various terrains and snow conditions.

Interpersonal Contacts:

  • Internal: Regular interaction with management and staff across multiple departments, often involving sensitive matters.
  • External: Frequent communication with guests, addressing various concerns and inquiries.
