Position Overview:

The Credit Specialist in Commercial Banking plays a vital role in the success of the Commercial Banking division in Canada. This position ensures that individual objectives, plans, and initiatives are effectively executed in alignment with the team's strategic goals while adhering to all regulatory requirements and internal policies.

The Credit Specialist provides essential support to Senior Client Relationship Managers, facilitating the fulfillment of client needs and addressing new requests. This includes collaborating with internal stakeholders and directly engaging with clients to manage various tasks such as the collection and processing of financial documentation, meeting funding prerequisites, onboarding processes, and resolving escalated client issues. The focus is on servicing the Growth Segment and less complex Core clients within Commercial Banking.

Key Responsibilities:

- Foster a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and leverage broader banking resources, systems, and expertise.

- Collaborate closely with Senior Client Relationship Managers to deliver the following services to a portfolio of existing and prospective clients:

Deal Structuring & Credit Evaluation:

• Prepare comprehensive Credit Presentations.

• Assist in due diligence and other requirements necessary for obtaining approvals.

• Ensure client files are complete and accurately documented in various systems (e.g., SDR, e-tracker).

• Collaborate with the Senior Credit Solutions Manager on larger, more complex credit structuring transactions when applicable.

Fulfillment & Funding:

• Coordinate with clients and various internal partners (e.g., RBBO - BSC, EDDU, CRA, GBM) to ensure loan funding is executed according to client expectations.

• Assist in fulfilling conditions precedent.

Portfolio Oversight:

• Provide general support during the annual review process and other credit-related situations to maintain portfolio quality.

• Engage with clients for financial reporting, analyze Financial Statements, Projections, and Borrowing bases, review outcomes, escalate any signs of deterioration, and update relevant systems.

Client Servicing:

• Support the leadership team, including the Associate Group Lead and Group Lead, as required.

• Collaborate with and support the Senior Client Relationship Manager and Service Specialist in servicing, non-credit, and other requested activities, such as onboarding and escalations.

Continuously seek opportunities to enhance processes and improve client satisfaction metrics, incorporating feedback received directly from clients or through client satisfaction surveys.

Understand the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture, ensuring these considerations are integrated into daily activities and decision-making processes.

Actively pursue effective and efficient operations within respective areas, ensuring compliance with operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including adherence to the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Dimensions:

- The Credit Specialist will support Senior Client Relationship Managers in Commercial Banking and report to the Associate Group Lead.

- Clients serviced are primarily located in Canada, with potential operations across the country and internationally. These clients may be borrowing (typically under $5MM, with some up to $25MM) or non-borrowing, with borrowing clients generally requiring standard to moderately complex financial solutions.

- Strong organizational skills are essential for managing significant data from multiple sources and balancing various tasks, from client service administration to borrower reporting and credit-related support.

- The Credit Specialist will typically receive requests from Senior Client Relationship Managers but may also support Directors and Vice Presidents in the Commercial Banking group as needed.

- Interaction with external parties, such as Solicitors, Accountants, and Professional Service Providers, may occur.

Qualifications:

- College/University degree or equivalent work experience.

- Commitment to participate in ongoing training as determined by the Bank.

Skills and Experience:

- Strong dedication to exceptional client service and the ability to resolve issues amicably and promptly.

- Excellent organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize multiple concurrent requests from various Relationship Managers.

- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate agreements within Commercial Banking and among partners.

- Proficient written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to engage stakeholders and clients.

- Solid understanding of Onboarding, Know Your Customer, and Anti-Money Laundering processes.

- Working knowledge of Financial Statements and credit analysis.

- Familiarity with credit structures and applicable risk management practices.

- Good understanding of fulfillment processes and the roles of partners.

- Knowledge of Commercial Banking partners and their involvement in client servicing, particularly the Business Service Center, Enhanced Due Diligence Team, and Cash Management teams.

- Comprehensive knowledge of the Commercial Banking Distribution structure and the roles of other groups within Commercial Banking (e.g., Roynat, Real Estate, Leasing).

- Proficient in applicable software and technology platforms for Commercial Banking (e.g., Sales Force, Intralink, Teams).

- Familiarity with the features and benefits of Commercial products and services.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

- High degree of flexibility to adapt to a variety of tasks.

- Strong commitment to accuracy, customer focus, and results orientation.

Working Conditions:

- Work in a standard office environment; non-standard hours may occur. No travel required.
