Overview
The main goal of this role is to assist the project management team and coordinate daily operations related to heavy civil, road, and infrastructure projects. This position will focus on various commercial and industrial projects, enhancing the efficiency of civil transportation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the project bidding process, which may involve drafting proposals and gathering necessary information.
- Collaborate with the estimating team to perform quantity take-offs.
- Work alongside the project manager and estimating team to create precise and competitive cost estimates, schedules, and quantity verifications.
- Facilitate project kick-off meetings, including the preparation of required scope pre-planning and submission of necessary documentation such as safety and environmental management plans.
- For smaller projects, ensure that project plans, specifications, and drawings are effectively communicated to supervisors and crews.
- Maintain a clear understanding of project scope and production expectations.
- Oversee all safety and environmental considerations on projects, adhering to current regulations and promoting a strong safety culture.
- Coordinate project activities, including attending site meetings, managing additional work pricing, and ensuring effective communication with customers.
- Collaborate with the project team, providing guidance to junior coordinators and project support staff.
- Verify job site quantities through various methods, including surveys and plan take-offs.
- Assist the Project Manager with financial reporting, including monthly progress invoices and supplier invoice approvals.
- Monitor project costs and provide feedback to operations and estimating teams.
- Act as a primary contact for clients, ensuring their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work with the accounting team to achieve cash collection and financial targets.
- Ensure all project close-out activities are completed, including documentation handovers and inspections.
- Conduct project reviews and provide management with a comprehensive close-out report.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
Educational Background: A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may also be considered.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in project coordination and field supervision, with estimating experience being an advantage.
- Experience managing projects valued at $500,000 and above.
- Basic understanding of construction accounting principles.
- Experience leading a project team, including junior coordinators and support staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and recognized estimating software.
- Strong knowledge of heavy civil infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and related construction components.
