STEM Program Advisor

Objective:

The K2I Academy at York University is seeking Program Mentors for the summer season to assist in the organization and execution of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) initiatives aimed at students from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Program Mentors will be responsible for crafting engaging, hands-on STEM activities, guiding STEM research projects, and providing exceptional mentorship within the Bringing STEM to Life: Work-Integrated Learning Programs.

Qualifications:

Current or recently graduated undergraduate student.
Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in undergraduate programs focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Applicants from other academic disciplines are also encouraged to submit their applications.

Background:

Experience working with young individuals.
Previous involvement in a research laboratory is considered advantageous.

Competencies:

Ability to comprehend and convey instructions, policies, and procedures effectively. Capacity to lead, mentor, and inspire others in acquiring new knowledge. Proficiency in providing guidance and support to others in enhancing their skills or knowledge. Demonstrated commitment to responsible, ethical, and professional behavior. Strong verbal communication skills to explain and disseminate information.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Workspace tools such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Slack.
