About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Project Engineer to join our team at Nicholas O'Dwyer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design, procurement, and construction administration of infrastructure projects in the UK, Ireland, and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare feasibility studies, route selections, and concept design reports.
  • Develop detailed designs, including drawings, calculations, and reports.
  • Prepare technical specifications and contract documents for main works and investigation contracts.
  • Evaluate tenders and manage procurement processes.
  • Obtain statutory approvals, including planning permissions and land acquisition.
  • Administer construction stage contracts.
  • Develop project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Contribute to infrastructure engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Perform site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and quality.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Monitor and control project costs, including tracking expenses and managing change orders.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective risk management strategies.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience. Chartered Engineer or member of a professional body working toward achieving Chartership status is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and regulations, as well as proficiency in design of infrastructure projects and analysis software. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet project milestones, are essential.
