About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled AVP to lead our Large Loss Appraisal team. As a key member of our Property Claims Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the quantification team, including large loss appraisers, review desk evaluators, vendor managers, pricing, and a technical restoration specialist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a high-performing team of professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of business unit outcomes, strategy, and goals.
  • Create an environment that fosters continuous improvement, innovation, and employee growth, aligning with our company's values and leadership culture.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve system conditions, enhance customer service, and drive financial performance.
  • Ensure effective management of operational risks and identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, creating a clear vision and aligning teams to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop, re-engineer, optimize, and monitor current and proposed claims standards, best practices, risk and compliance standards, functional training curriculum content, and functional IT claims project management.
Accountabilities
  • Oversee the quantification team, including large loss appraisers, review desk evaluators, vendor managers, pricing, and a technical restoration specialist.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase technical capability on the team, measure results, and ensure appropriate governance and controls on pricing.
  • Create, engineer, optimize, and monitor workflows and risk controls to ensure quantification methods reach appropriate financial outcomes.
  • Support and create alignment between the quantification team, other business units, and the broader Property & Specialty Department.
  • Develop and recommend the strategic direction for your department, representing your team in senior management discussions, internally and externally.
  • Have a clear understanding of financial elements of our claims function to ensure we remain financially strong year over year.
Requirements
  • Strong technical construction and estimating experience in large loss quantification.
  • Post-secondary education and a CIP/FCIP designation (asset).
  • Previous leadership experience in the insurance industry.
  • Played a key role in the performance management and career development of others.
  • Continuous improvement experience or have studied it.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage, advocate, and influence others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage various projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to gain insight from data to improve the performance of your people.
