About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Operational Senior Claims Leader to head up a unit consisting of technical large loss appraisers and vendor managers. As a key member of our Property Claims Department, you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals and driving business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of large loss appraisers, review desk evaluators, vendor managers, and technical restoration specialists to ensure effective quantification and management of claims.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve technical capability, governance, and controls on pricing, and optimize workflows and risk controls.
  • Collaborate with other business units and the broader Property & Specialty Department to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Manage vendor performance, oversee quantification for attritional and large loss property claims, and troubleshoot issues as an escalation point.
  • Develop and recommend the strategic direction for the department and represent the team in senior management discussions.
  • Ensure a clear understanding of financial elements of our claims function to maintain financial strength year over year.

Requirements:

  • Strong technical construction and estimating experience in large loss quantification.
  • Post-secondary education and a CIP/FCIP designation.
  • Previous leadership experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on performance management and career development.
  • Continuous improvement experience or education.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage, advocate, and influence others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and think analytically to gain insight from data.
